How do u feel about American apparel shiny disco pants and what color do you prefer?

American Apparel’s “Disco Pant” is not really a style that I would choose for a client—but I do see the appeal (especially in the UK). If I had to choose a favorite color it would, of course, be black. It’s slimming and matches everything. Try looking for something with natural fibers from now on and remember to keep Fashion Under Rapps.

What are some "must-do's" for a fashion junkie in NYC this weekend?

The list of things to do in NYC are endless. Here are a few I definitely recommend.
1.) The fifth floor of Barney’s on Madison has been turned into the Lady Gaga Workshop. Lots of great fashion!

2.) The Harper’s Bazaar exhibit at the International Center of Photography

3.) the museum at FIT is free on Fridays

4.) since you’re gonna be there for new years eve you have to go to Times Square for the ball drop.

Hello Mr. Jory! I have a question that maybe you can help me with.. I have this friend who starting a clothing line, it’s kinda turned into a joint thing that I’ve been helping him w/ and He wants me to start drawing out some of my ideas instead of just telling them to him so What I am looking for is some kind of blank templates of shortsleeve/long/v-neck/crew shirts, like front view, side, and back. Do you know of anywhere I could find something like that? Any help would be appreciated!

This is a tough thing to find but I may be able to help. Unfortunately most designers don’t want to share their templates for design so it is very difficult to find something like this. I talked to the Assistant Buyer for Donna Karan about this and she said the same thing. I did some searching online for you, though, and found www.youthedesigner.com. You can find lots of great blank templates for just the kind of thing you’re looking for. Hope this helps! Good luck with your new brand and remember to keep Fashion Under Rapps!

I have a fashion question. I am looking for a style that says more about me: I know the style exists I just have always called it crunchy granola. I want it a little lest crunchy though and a little more work friendly. A style that shows that you're earth conscious. You recycle. You volunteer. A Tom's shoe kind of guy who is also 40. Great question! I love anytime an apparel company can incorporate philanthropy into their corporate culture the way that Toms does! If you’re going for the hipster/granola look, I would first recommend checking your local vintage and antique shops for any stylish accessories. It’s a good way to save money, bring back a hot style, and re-use clothing that otherwise would have been tossed out. Also, check out www.lookbook.nu for tons of hipster inspiration. There’s a men’s section that has lots of fantastic pics of amazing outfits that fit the description you gave me. I also know that Urban Outfitters is having a huge holiday sale right now and you can find lots of cool funky pieces for cheap. For basics, American Apparel and Uniqlo are always my go-to stores. And last, but certainly not least, check out TopMan. It’s more of a UK look but you can find some amazing things that would fit in with the look you’re trying to achieve. Black. It’s a color that evokes varied reactions from everyone. For me, black is the most important part of any wardrobe. There is a stigma about the color that it’s dark, sad, and sometimes even gothic. But really, black can be worn on any given day and make you feel invincible. Not only is it slimming, but it matches absolutely everything, can dress up even the most casual of outfits, and works in all seasons. In fashion, it’s the classic color that will always sell. You won’t hear about any celebrity wearing a LOD (little orange dress) but the iconic LBD (little black dress) is always a hit on the red carpet. So the next time you ask “am I wearing too much black?” just know that the answer will always be “No.”
